English translation of the second page: “Aya picks me up at the bus station in San Donato, in Milan’s suburb. It was sunny that day and she looked radiant. A big smile and dark eyes. She apologizes for being late and tells me she is usually on time for appointments. I belived her. Her voice is high pitched and sweet. While we are sipping black tea with fresh mint, she tells me about herself, her family, where she lives and where she came from. Aya feels almost completly italian: she attended every school here and now she studies International Political Science. She embraced the western lifestyle that her parents also choose by leaving Egypt and coming to Milan, in hope of a better life. I look at her and I notice we are very simile although we are very different. She is determined, precise and organized... a lioness! I tell her and she reveals to me that Leo is her zodiac sign, and Virgo as a rising sign. I knew it. She doesn’t move her habds much, she drinks her tea in short sips and always keeps eye contact. I listen to her please and study her movements with interest, Trying to make them my own. I feel like I have a big responsability on my shoulders, a responsability that looks like a huge crystal box, heavy but fragile: Who am I to contain Aya in a few photographs, ways or colours? I am a stranger that wants to steal a little piece of her soul; I am a stranger that claims to be able to do it.” @xchiaralombardix

Chiara Lombardi is a very skilled photographer, capable of bringing emotions out of you through her photos. I had the honor to work with her on a project that she built around who I am. She wanted to tell the story of Aya, through her eyes, your eyes and my eyes. A little book was the perfect format to do so. ART. Do you believe in the motto “New Year, New Me”? Probably you don’t, neither do I. But this year I want to allow myself to show a side of me that is new to the public. We all go through life wondering “Who am I? Where do I belong? Are these jeans the right fit for me?” Usually the answers to these vary depending on how life is moving us. I usually reply saying “I am a Muslim Italian girl! Born in Egypt, raised in Milan!” and “nup, they don’t fit”. That’s the diplomatic adult presentation, ya know?! That’s who Milanpyramid is and represents. Right now, when I am writing this caption, it is 2 am. And all I wanted to do was to share my point of view on Art, but I ended up writing too much. I am not a writer btw, I suck at writing! Well the “new” side of me, that I want to share more during this year is the LOVER side. I love Art. I know this sounds silly, but hear me out... I fall so deep in love with Art. I don’t like it, I truly have a passion of loving Art. The thing about Art is that it doesn’t have to be anything, but it can be everything. I really love beauty of any kind, shape or form. I do not care if it is a trash can or a vase if that is Art for you no one can tell you otherwise. Anyone can make Art, anyone can appreciate Art. Art can make you feel any emotion. Art is just a very beautiful and deep way of comunication. I deely believe that there is a form of Art in everything. And I fall in love with all of them. Not just in the pretty things, like music, poetry or paintings. But it exists in the way someone talks, or in the cold air blowing against your cheeks in the morning, or even in that tamato stain on your jeans. I really don’t care. I like to look for beauty in things and it makes me happy. I will try to share more of what I think is Art, or what I make as Art in the future with you. I am starting with this shot.
